I scraped it into a plastic container and actually did whip it with my hand blender. The crystals were rather large so I hope the whipping process created the smaller "seed" for the process. I was moving bees from my boat (they were after water). I have to use a 16' stepladder to get in and as I moved the water jar down a step I could tell the bees that had left from the preceeding step..they'd hover there until noticing the bees below.
